About Canasmith

Overview

We are a small independent farm out of Pullman, WA. We focus on quality and accessibility: premium flower that respects the plant and the planet, priced so more people can enjoy it.

What sets us apart
  • Mixed light + HPS: sunlight through a protective roof, boosted with HPS when needed.
  • Coco + drip irrigation: targeted feeds at each plant base for consistency and efficiency.
  • Well water: clean and stable, no city fluoride.
  • Flavor-first cure: we monitor aw (water activity) for smooth burn and bright nose.
Budtender floor blurb

“Sun-forward, HPS-supported, drip-fed in coco, and cured by water activity for a clean, even burn.”

Growing Methods

How we cultivate
Rooms & goals
  • Mom & Clone: clean cuts, strong rooting, uniform starts.
  • Veg: structured growth, even canopy, healthy leaves.
  • Flower: resin development, density, and aroma peak under sun + HPS.
  • Cure & Pack: steady dry, aw target, packed to protect terps.
Why coco + drip
  • Precision — measured pulses right where roots can use them.
  • Oxygenation — airy coco keeps roots happy and responsive.
  • Efficiency — less waste, consistent results room-to-room.

Floor phrasing: “We feed exactly what the plant needs, when it needs it — and keep the environment steady so the nose stays loud.”

Genetics & Pheno Hunting

Consistency & flavor
Keeper selection
  • Flavor first — aroma and taste are the North Star.
  • Structure — healthy growth, manageable trim, stable canopy.
  • Yield vs. labor — good returns without spiking work.
  • Repeatability — the cut must perform across cycles.
Budtender floor blurb

“We run siblings and keep the one that smokes best and repeats. Tell me your flavor lane — gas, fruit, dessert — I’ll match you.”

Water Activity (aw) & Cure

Flavor & burn
Why aw matters

aw (water activity) helps predict microbial safety and how moisture moves in the jar. We aim for a zone that protects terpenes and gives a clean, even burn.

Low High
Targets & outcomes
  • ~0.50–0.60: smooth smoke, even burn, bright aroma.
  • < 0.50: terp loss, brittle feel, sharper smoke.
  • > 0.60: microbe risk rises, duller nose, runny burn.
Budtender floor blurb

“When you get home, open the jar — the aroma should be clean and true to type. After a gentle grind, it should feel springy, not dusty or wet. We cure by aw for a smooth, flavorful experience.”
